My Car My Nemesis

I have been having a bad week, and it all has to do with my car. First, my brakes needed to be repaired. My first quote was over $400, but I found someone to do it for $300. My poor Secret Pal from Secret Pal 5 has not gotten her last package because I can't get to the post office to mail it. I finally got the brakes fixed and went to go to the post office last weekend. My car wouldn't start! I have been stressing out about things like how am I going to get to work? How am I going to get groceries? I am lost without a car because I live in the Suburbs and Scott works nights. Today I found out apparently you need to have gas in your car in order for it to start. Boy did I feel like a dope! On the other hand my gas gauge said I had a quarter of a tank left. Oh well, at least I didn't have it towed.

On the knitting front, I have been busy. I completed the felted bag and just need to put it in the washer to felt, the picture is below. I know Theresa is awaiting her bag. I have completed the Sable Sweater, but need to redo the neckline, so I will show a picture once that is done.

Continental Knitting

A lot of people have come to my blog looking for information on Continental Knitting. There is a website that has good instructional videos on how to do this as well as many other stitches. You can find this at www.knittinghelp.com . I myself still throw. It is the way I learned and the way I feel most comfortable. I know how to pick, I just prefer to throw.

I am still plugging away at the Sable Sweater. I am determined to get it done this week. I will post a picture when it is finished.

Secret Pal and Sable Sweater

My secret pal sent me a wonderful package in the mail! In it was some beautiful hand dyed yarn, a notebook, CD, pet toy and some wool to spin. I feel spoiled! And she did it all even though she is in Mississippi and had to endure the hurricane! She is ok though and they have their power back on. I need to get the last package to my secret pal, I have everything I want to send, I just can't get to the post office to send it because my car isn't working. I am hoping by the end of next week to get it fixed.

This week I have been working on my Sable Sweater. It is almost finished. It is about time I had a FO. I think it may be a little long, but we'll see.

Team in Training Update and Sushi Stitch Markers

Today I walked 3 miles! It may not seem like much, but if you have been a couch potato like me, it is a lot. So goes my training to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I have a new website where donations can be made http://www.active.com/donate/tntwaak/tntwaakWBrown . It seems I signed up incorrectly the first time. Any donations made to my old site will be forwarded to this one shortly. I do have a favor to ask and that is to put a copy of this button on your blog and link to my donation web page.

Last night a bunch of us knitters went over to Suzy's house and made sushi stitch markers. I won't post a picture of mine as they were hideous. The others' turned out quite cute. Her beagles are adorable.

Second Sleeve

The second sleeve of the Sable Sweater is almost done! I want to have this sweater done in time for the cold weather. It won't be too long.

Just to refresh your memory I am using an article off of Knitty.com (which is a take on Elizabeth Zimmerman's Sweater Pattern from Knitting Without Tears). I am using both sources to complete this sweater. It really is easy and I love knitting the front and back at the same time in the round as opposed to knitting each piece separately and then sewing them together.

I am worried about it not fitting as I thought I knew my measurements before I started this sweater, then I took them the other day and of course they are different. Oh well, it will fit me eventually as I keep losing weight on my diet.
