Log Cabin Socks

I have been working on the Log Cabin Socks for the Knitting Olympics. Unfortunately I had a set back a couple of days ago where I had to rip out the heel because I had twisted a cable the wrong way in the pattern prior to the heel. I am one day behind schedule, so I am hoping that I can make up for it with the long weekend. The color of the sock in the picture is deceiving, the true color is not quite such a bright blue.

Knitting Olympics!!!

The Knitting Olympics have started and my project is off and running! I am knitting Log Cabin Socks from Handknit Holidays. They are knitting up a lot quicker than I expected, which is good as I work full time, I am taking a class and trying to finish my Knitting Olympics project. Below are the socks so far -

I am on team DPN, even though I knit socks on circulars with the Magic Loop method. They were kind enough to invite me and said I just have to poke someone with dpns while watching the Olympics.

Just before the Olympics started, I finished the first Madder Ribbed Sock. The second one has been started and will have to wait until after the Olympics to be finished.

Don't forget to check out the unfinished sweater I have up for sale on Ebay, the proceeds will go to a school in Latvia in need of books.

Fund Raiser of the Knitting Kind

I am selling my unfinished Armagh Sweater from Alice Starmore's Celtic Collectin on Ebay. It has been knit in Lion Brand yarn, and I think I have enough skeins left to finish. If not, they still sell the yarn and the same colors as well. One sleeve has been started. Left to knit are the two sleeves and neckline.

I began knitting this sweater in 1997 when I went to Latvia in the Peace Corps. I am planning on donating the earnings from the sweater to the school that I taught at in Ugale, Latvia.

The schools there do not have any money, still use books from the Soviet Union and most students do not graduate. I am hoping that the school will be able to use the money I send to buy new books. If you would like to see the listing go to Ebay.

Madder Ribbed Socks

The Madder Ribbed Socks are knitting up nicely. I'm half way done with the foot, so I may finish the first sock this weekend. The toe is about 3 1/2 inches, which is a lot larger than the other toes I have knit. What I like about Knitting Vintage Socks is that Nancy Bush uses many different heels and toes, so one can get a lot of practice using different techniques.

My goal is to have this pair of socks done before the Knitting Olympics, but they may have to wait until after if I don't get them done.
