Flap-Top Mittens

These mittens match the hat I just finished. I had a little trouble understanding the instructions for the flap so Daniel came up with an alternative mitten. Today after looking at the instructions again it all makes sense. It is just confusing because of the brackets included with the instructions. Or maybe it's just me! I think I like Daniel's method better which is instead of wrapping the yarn around the needle twice, knit into the front and back loop of the stitch. It tightens up the stitches that will be put on the extra dpn.

I have also started on a matching scarf. Next winter I will be stylin'!

Log Cabin Socks Finished

I stayed home from work today after a stint in the ER yesterday. They weren't able to find anything wrong, so I guess that is good news. Anyway I was able to finish the log cabin socks. I gave them a good soaking and now they are drying. The cables seemed to loosen up a bit which is good because they are a tight knit.

Color Cordination

Wendy's Hat and knitting bag Posted by Picasa

I think I took the color cordination a bit too far. I found this knitting bag at JoAnne's. Besides the fact that it matches what I am knitting now, it is a nifty bag for small projects. It rolls open and has a spot for needles and other items and has a plastic zippered compartment for yarn or knitting projects. It is what I have been looking for. Unless I am knitting a sweater I don't like carrying around large bags full of knitting projects. It also comes in orange.

Wendy's Hat

Here I am in the hat I just finished of my own design. It is pretty basic so I'm sure it is not original. It is a bit loose, but tight hats don't seem to stay on my head due to the thickness of my hair. This stays on top of my head ok, so I will decide by next winter If I should reknit it. I am in the process of making a matching scarf and gloves.

I am still working on the Log Cabin socks, but had to put them down for a while because they are knit tight and my hands were really starting to hurt. I will have them finished in 2 weeks.

One Completed Log Cabin Sock

I'm afraid I haven't posted for a while. I have been studying for an insurance exam I took on Saturday. I should find out in a week if I passed. There has been no knitting or blogging for quite a while. I really missed it, today is the first day I have been back to my old hobbies. I'm really having a good time. I have posted a picture of the completed sock, the second one is nearing completion as well. I did have a couple of setbacks with both socks in which I didn't see my mistakes until I had to frog quite a bit. I'm back on the right track and should have it finished by the weekend. It is good to be back!
